MINISTERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The Ministry, as the mouth piece and image making organ of government, has the following responsibilities:

  • Publicity and information delivery service on policies, programmes and activities of government.
  • Press coverage and issuing of news bulletins.
  • Video coverage, filming and documentaries
  • Research and periodic production of publications
  • Management of Government Public Relations.
  • Provision of Public Address and Multi-media System at Government events and giving out same for hiring by members of the public.
  • Graphic productions, Banners, Lampposts, Design
  • Develop robust archive for photos, books and other information materials.
  • Mount regular photo exhibition of important events of government.
  • Supervision of Akwa Ibom Broadcasting Corporation (AKBC), Akwa Ibom Newspaper Corporation (AKNC) and the Ethical and Attitudinal Re-orientation Commission, EARCOM.
  • Promotion of inter-Governmental and inter-Ministerial co-operation on information dissemination and broadcasting.
  • Liaison with the Press and Newspaper outfits to ensure healthy Journalism practice in the State through regular media parley.
  • Printing and publishing of government security documents, Gazettes, legislation and all government pamphlets, reports and other materials.
  • Printing and distribution of government complimentary materials such as the State Executive Council poster, State Calendar, State Diary and Christmas Cards.
  • Carrying out of ethical and attitudinal re-orientation programmes for government
  • Management of Akwa Ibom State Website and other online assets.
  • Provision of suitable marketable brand slogans for the Governor and the Corporate Akwa Ibom to attract goodwill and investment to the State.
  • Production of documentaries on investment opportunities for potential investors and tourists for broadcast in national and foreign media such as NTA I, Channel TV, Aljazeera, CNN etc
  • Production of documentaries on achievements of the Governor for airing within and outside the state to woo investors.
  • Researching and writing of commentaries on different investment opportunities that abound in the state and other campaign or public enlightenment themes for airing within and outside the state.
  • Organization of periodic briefing sessions for   Commissioners/SA/Heads of extra-ministerial departments to reveal their activities and achievements to the public.
